Greetings from Sjölunden!

On behalf of the credit program, I would like to thank you for offering your child the opportunity to join us for this wonderful summer in the ”lake by the woods”. This year our credit program includes 19 students and 3 teachers!

Our first week is a busy time. Your child will be assisting us in making self-placements to determine their classes. We will also start our full class and daily schedule. At Sjölunden, we don’t like to waste time! Students will also be starting their ”intresse activities.” This week,  they can choose from weaving, Swedish painting, sports, baking and much more. Students will also be getting a start on their portfolios (one of the  important ways students have a say in their own assessment and learning process).

SSSHHHH!! It may seem like a long time away, but soon your student will ”graduate.” It’s traditional for Swedish graduates to be greeted at their graduation with large posters bearing their baby photos. We would also like to be a part of this Swedish tradition! Please send Elin an appropriate baby photo of your child. You can do this via e-mail (sjolundencredit@gmail.com) We prefer e-mail because it will be easier to print and enlarge the picture, however, you may also send in a regular photo. And remember, this is a SECRET! We’d like to surprise your student at their graduation :)
